LG G Pad 8.3 passes through the FCC with Verizon 4G LTE support

Thanks to a recent FCC listing, Verizon Wireless seems to be getting the LG G Pad 8.3 on its 4G LTE network.

When LG unveiled the LG G Pad, it was clear who the company had in its sights: Apple's iPad mini. LG is a company known for its displays and the G Pad is packing a true-to-life color 1920 x 1200 8.3-inch HD display with narrow bezels and a brushed aluminum case. It's also a very capable tablet thanks to its fast 1.7GHz quad-core processor.

The LG G Pad got Google's attention and the company was so impressed that it made the G Pad 8.3 its first Google Play Edition tablet. If you've been holding out for an LG G Pad with 4G LTE connectivity, you'll be happy to know that the tablet, going by model number VK810, has just made its way through the FCC. The documents indicate the tablet has support for LTE bands 4 and 13, which just happen to be the bands Verizon uses.

As a reminder, the LG G Pad 8.3 features an 8.3-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a pixel density of 273 pixels per inch (ppi). It's powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user interface. It ships with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards.

Its camera capabilities include an 8-megapixel-rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. In terms of wireless connectivity you'll find Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0. The tablet ships with a 4,600 mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Its dimensions are 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3 mm and weighs 338g.

There's no word on when Verizon will begin offering the LG G Pad 8.3 to its customers, but when it does, Big Red subscribers will have an iPad mini alternative complete with a brushed aluminum case and narrow bezels around its display. We'll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
