AT&T is now taking pre-orders for the LG G Flex curved-display smartphone, which retails for $299.99 on a new 2-year contract and ships Feb. 4.
When LG debuted the G Flex, it unveiled a smartphone with a massive 6-inch HD display display, but the fact that it's flexible makes the large device comfortable to carry and use. LG also added a cool self-healing finish to the phablet's back that will actually repair tiny scratches on its own. It features the same unique rear-button layout found on the company's G2 smartphone. The buttons are placed on the back of the device because that's where your fingers naturally rest when holding a smartphone, making it easy to control the volume, power, and scrolling with one hand.
AT&T is now taking pre-orders for the LG G Flex for $299.99 when signing a new 2-year contract, joining Sprint and T-Mobile in offering the device.
As a reminder, the LG G Flex features a 6-inch curved 1280 x 720 curved P-OLED display with a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch (ppi) and it's running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean (LG has confirmed an Android 4.4 KitKat update will be released). It's powered by a fast 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) and 2GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly.
LG ships the G Flex with 32GB of internal storage, but no microSD expansion slot. The handset is also packing in a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and the ability to record 1080p video @60fps, as well as a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. Its wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy), GPS, and NFC. As previously mentioned, it also has a special coating on the back of its case that can heal itself from small scratches. The smartphone uses a non-removable 3,500 mAh battery, which will provide up to 29 hours of talk time.
