T-Mobile customers can now pre-order the 6-inch curved display LG G Flex through the retailer's online store.
The LG G Flex is LG's first smartphone to ship with a flexible OLED display. It was designed to offer users an immersive cinematic viewing experience and its curved display allows the G Flex to be very comfortable in the hand. Two of the handset's coolest features can be found on its rear case. The LG G Flex uses the same rear-key feature the company introduced with its LG G2, moving the smartphone's power button and volume rocker on the rear case to allow for easier one-handed operation. The rear case also has a special self-healing coating that allows the smartphone to automatically recover from minor scratches.
T-Mobile is the latest U.S. carrier to add the G Flex to its smartphone lineup. The carrier is charging $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $28, or an outright cost of $672. T-Mobile has now opened up pre-orders for the LG G Flex and it will begin selling the smartphone on Feb. 5.
As a reminder, the LG G Flex features a 6-inch curved 1280 x 720 OLED display with a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch (ppi). It's powered by a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) and 2GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user interface. The G Flex includes 32GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but LG has already confirmed it will receive an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future.
The LG G Flex's camera capabilities include a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and the ability to record 1080p video @60fps, as well as a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. Its wireless connectivity options consist of a 4G LTE radio, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy), GPS, and NFC. The smartphone uses a non-removable 3,500 mAh battery. LG has also used a special self-healing coating on the rear case of the smartphone that allows it to heal itself from minor scratches.
