Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was released back in October 2023, which may have prompted you to finally start the first game. If you're new or are finding a guide for a better replay, here are some tips that you should know before you play the game.
1. Complete Research Stations
You'll find them all over the map, and your friend Harry tasked you to look over them so that Oscorp would not shut them down. Other than the perks you get like XP, they can also serve as fast travel points once you open them. You won't even have to complete the missions for that to happen.
2. Master Your Swinging
It might seem like a trivial aspect of the game where you just use it to get around, but you'll need to be as good as you can with swinging in certain missions. For instance, chasing after pigeons and doing timed missions will require you to be quick.
3. Learn to Time Your Dodges
Dodges will not only prevent you from taking damage, it can also open possibilities for attacks and counterattacks. Pay attention to Spider-Man's spidey sense. They turn blue once you can evade an attack perfectly, which will slow time and depending on your upgrades, shortly incapacitate the enemies.
4. Do More Crime Missions
Crime missions are the red triangles that randomly show up on the map while you're swinging around in the city. Not only will completing them grant you crime tokens for crafting suits and upgrades, they can also let you earn XP. The enemies are typically easier to defeat, so they're also good practice.
5. Use Stealth
Using stealth means that you can pick off the enemies one by one so you would not be overwhelmed once they detect you. This is especially helpful when there are snipers around since they will deal damage when you're busy fighting on the ground. They'll be easier to get rid of anyway since they're usually alone and safe to web up.
6. Upgrade Your Web Shooter/Gadgets
It takes a bit of time for your web shooter varieties to refill which is why it would be useful if you could hold more of each. You can upgrade the capacity under Gadgets in the menu. Under the same place, you can also upgrade the effect of the gadgets, which can help you incapacitate enemies longer or more effectively while you deal with others.
7. Collect All Backpacks
By collecting the backpacks you previously stashed all over the city, you'll earn backpack tokens, which can also be used to craft new suits and upgrade gadgets. They can be found all over the map, and you can use them to practice your swings as well. Each item even serves as a memory for Peter.
8. Explore the City
Seriously, exploring the city with Spider-Man's ability to swing from building to building is unlike any other gaming experience. You'll appreciate it even more if you have the game in the best setting. You'll find easter eggs like the Sanctum Sanctorum which where Peter says that it feels "strange."
