Verizon Nexus 7 4G LTE now available for $249.99

We knew it was coming and now Verizon has officially announced it will offer Google's Nexus 7 on its 4G LTE network for $249.99.

Verizon customers have been patiently waiting for Google's very popular Nexus 7 tablet make its way to Verizon. Other carriers have already been offering the tablet for quite some time, but Verizon refused to certify the device to run on its 4G LTE network until Google issued an update to the tablet. Google has done just that and the Nexus 7 is now finally certified to run on Verizon's network.

The carrier is offering the 7-inch tablet for $249.99 when signing a new 2-year contract, or $349.99 when buying it off contract through Verizon's online store.

As a reminder, the Nexus 7 features a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 full HD IPS scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass display with a pixel density of 323 pixels per inch (ppi). The tablet uses a powerful and energy-efficient 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU). It ships with the latest version of Google's mobile OS, Android 4.4 KitKat. The Nexus 7 also ships with 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM.

Its camera capabilities include a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter. It also has great sounding stereo speakers with surround sound and Frauhofer audio technology. In terms of wireless connectivity, you'll find dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The tablet also includes a microUSB port and a Slimport for 1080p HDMI output. It's packing a large non-removable 3,950 mAh battery, which will provide up to 9 hours of active use, 9 hours of HD video playback, 10 hours of web browsing or e-reading, and 300 hours of standby time.

The Nexus 7 has been one of the most popular tablets on the market because it's got great specs, beautiful display, powerful quad-core processor and the added benefit of being a Nexus device, which guarantees that the tablet receives updates to Android as soon as Google releases them. It also means you have a pure Android experience, with no manufacturer customizations such as Samsung's TouchWiz and HTC's Sense, which can sometimes slow things down.

If you're interested in the Verizon Nexus 7, you can purchase it now for $249.99 when signing a new 2-year contract, or $349 with no contract.
