Meta Reportedly 'Optimistic' With Apple Vision Pro, Hopes to Boost Metaverse Awareness

Meta Banks on Apple Vision Pro for Metaverse Awareness

Despite being ahead of the VR headset race, Meta's Reality Labs division's sales take only less than one percent of the overall revenue. Hence, Meta is hoping that the launch of Vision Pro will boost awareness of the $50 billion metaverse effort.

Even CEO Mark Zuckerberg is embracing the upcoming VR headset competition once Vision Pro hits the stores. Moreover, the launch of Apple's device could potentially place Meta Quest devices as an Android counterpart for headsets.

"Meta is going to have to step up their game and make sure that whatever they're making still attracts that core developer," chief investment officer at Bokeh Capital Partners, Kim Forrest, stated. Experts are also in a battle with the market perception of the Vision Pro.

Apple Vision Pro Inspires Meta on Mixed Reality

Regardless of the sales of Vision Pro, people familiar with the matter stated that it has influenced Meta's strategy. Currently, the company is reportedly focused on researching mixed reality.

Previously, Meta has been banking on developing the metaverse which is focused on working and playing in a virtual reality world. It would be a different step for the company to adapt mixed reality for its upcoming headset.

Last October, Meta released Quest 3 packed with various improvements from the previous generations. The device managed to sell up to 2.7 million devices during the fourth quarter which is a significant increase compared to the Quest 2 sales.
