Although it took a while before women were perceived as equals among men, we are finally at the point where almost everything is possible. Women continue to fight for absolute equality, and we certainly have plenty of examples to be inspired by. Here are some telling the stories of women who made a mark in this world.
1. 'Amelia'
Amelia Earhart is a name that's familiar to most, not just because of her tragic disappearance, but also because of the aviation feats she managed to achieve. She became the most famous pilot of her time, and even so now.
The movie "Amelia" tells her story, from when she first met George Putnam, her business partner who eventually became her husband, to other flight ventures and the struggles she had along the way, up until the moment she went on and vanished.

2. 'Erin Brockovich'
In an inspiring narrative, Julia Roberts plays the role of Erin Brockovich, the person who dug deep enough to learn that people were suffering due to the practices of a gas and electric company, and eventually secured a settlement for the impacted.
The movie begins with her getting a job at a law office, where she eventually finds documents that led her to the class action suit against Pacific Gas and Electric Company for the residents of Hinkley, California. In her determination, she managed to secure a whopping $333 million settlement.

3. 'The Help'
While the movie was not based on a particular story, the premise does follow the circumstances that African-American women, particularly maids, experienced in the 60s. The film's plot starts off with an author, Skeeter, who interviews domestic helpers for white people.
It shows the suffering and abuse some of the maids experienced during their employment, all of which were acknowledged by Skeeter. With their stories included in the book, it brought to light the practices that were hateful and unfair.

4. 'On the Basis of Sex'
It's not easy to fight a practice that has been around for decades, and maybe even a century, but Ruth Bader Ginsburg did not let that stop her as she saw the societal discrimination based on the sex of a person.
Although the movie shows much of her failures during her career, it just adds to her triumph as she pushes on to fight for what she believes is right. In real life, Ginsburg became known for winning several arguments before the Supreme Court and continuing to advocate for gender equality and women's rights.

5. 'Hidden Figures'
In a lot of ways "Hidden Figures" shows us several struggles in both women and people of color. With Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Goble being black women in a workplace dominated by white men, they found themselves struggling to fit in.
Treated differently and not being appreciated for what they contribute, the three still managed to rise up and be seen for who they are and what they are capable of. Many praised the movie's historical accuracy and cinematography.
