Helldivers 2 Players Will Now Be Encountering Flying Terminids

Well, Helldiver, it looks like things will be more complicated in the next missions. As if giant Chargers and Bile Spewers weren't enough of a pain, you'll need to extend your line of sight to the skies as well since Terminids can fly now, apparently.

Land Mines Can't Save You Now

Players are working hard to finally eradicate the infestation of Terminds in the Umalut Sector, and it seems that liberation is nigh with missions where Helldivers are tasked to activate the Terminid Control System towers that would release pesticides to kill the bugs.

As it turns out, the fight is far from over, and the Terminids are upping their game by taking advantage of the power of flight. Players have been pointing out the update, but funnily enough, Arrowhead Games CEO Johan Pilestedt sides with the state and denies their existence.

"I've heard about rumors of flying bugs in [Helldivers 2]. I want to officially refute such preposterous claims. Everyone knows that 'Bugs can't fly'," the CEO posted. He even mentioned that the Ministry of Truth believes it's just propaganda from bug sympathizers.

When others pointed out that the poster itself featured flying Terminids, Pilestedt shut down the idea by saying that it was "image manipulation by traitors." Fans are entertained by the fact that the CEO is playing along with the ideals that Super Earth leaders are peddling.

In all seriousness, it is possible that there are now flying Terminids in the infested planets. According to Kotaku, there have already been a few confirmations that the bugs now have wings, making the achievement of liberty and democracy that much harder.

Since it is new, we still don't know which loadouts will best deal with the bugs. Will the Gatling Sentries target them? Will the airstrikes be effective in killing them off? Part of the fun would be to find out the most effective way to eliminate the flying critters.

Helldivers Conspiracies

Right from the get-go, Helldivers 2 is already introduced as a political campaign that encourages people to enlist as Helldivers and fight for Super Earth. However, the lore behind the title and the small details in-game tell a more deceitful story behind the rallying of troops.

For one, Super Earth leaders are all for "managed democracy," which states that it utilizes computer-aided voting software where citizens are asked several questions. That means that they don't directly vote for specific leaders and that the voting machine will decide based on the submitted answers.

In missions where Helldivers are deployed to shut down illegal broadcasts, the message says that the threat is about oil since that is how bugs end up once they die and break down. "WAKE UP PEOPLE! THE BUG MENACE IS A SUPER EARTH CONSTRUCT!"

The so-called "democracy" doesn't seem all that democratic when you learn about the things that people have been arrested or executed for as well. According to PC Gamer, violations include things like being suspected of being an alien sympathizer, such as a conspiracy theorist.

Super Earth citizens are also not allowed to question official government narratives, having a child without that C1-PERM government-issued permit, and so on. Some are even arrested for simply being a "hippie."
