The new Samsung Galaxy S5 is about to hit commercial availability soon, so here's where UK customers can get it and for how much.
The new Galaxy flagship smartphone is set to make its big commercial debut on April 11 and it will likely become a very popular choice, as it is one of the most highly-anticipated devices of this year. As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1-inch full HD 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, and Android 4.4 KitKat on board. Other highlights include a 16-megapixel rear camera, dust- and water-resistance, as well as a fingerprint scanner to better compete against Apple's Touch ID-enabled iPhone 5S.
If you are in the UK and plan on getting the new Samsung Galaxy S5, here's what mobile operators are charging for the smartphone.
Vodafone
The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes in four color options - white, black, gold, and blue - but Vodafone has the exclusive on the gold version in the UK. The carrier will also be offering all other color options.
The lowest monthly charge on a two-year service agreement with Vodafone UK is £42, but that's if you trade in another Galaxy device. In this case, the operator will also waive the upfront cost. The plan comes with 3GB of data each month, as well as a six-month subscription for Sky Sports or Spotify. If you don't have any Galaxy to trade in, the lowest monthly fee for the Galaxy S5 is £47 with a down payment of £19 for the same plan. These amounts are for 4G pricing, but the carrier also offers 3G prices. Find all plans and prices at this link.
Three
Three is selling the black, white, and blue versions of the Samsung Galaxy S5 on 4G plans starting at £38 per month, with an upfront cost of £29. While it may seem like a very steep price, Three is charging this much because it's offering "All-you-can-eat" data plans, which come with 600 minutes of voice calls or a 2GB data allowance with limited calls per month. You can find out more about Three's plans for the Galaxy S5 here.
EE
EE is also selling the Galaxy S5 in the three color options except for gold. The smartphone is available on two-year 4G plans, with EE recommending its 4GB plan as the most suitable one. The Samsung Galaxy S5 on this plan will cost £39.99 per month with a down payment of £59.99. A 3GB plan is not available, but EE is also offering the Galaxy S5 on a 2GB plan for £37.99 with a £49.99 upfront cost, or a 5GB plan for £49.99 per month and a £9.99 upfront cost, among other plans. O2
Lastly, O2 is selling the Samsung Galaxy S5 only in the black color option. The smartphone will be available for a starting price of £38 per month and £69.99 upfront on a 4G plan with 2GB. On a 5GB plan, meanwhile, the Galaxy S5 from O2 will cost £48 per month with no down payment. Check out these plans, as well as other options, on O2's website at this link.
