Fubo failed to renew the content agreement between Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and has decided to pull out all related channels from its service.
Networks such as Discovery, TLC, Food Network, and HGTV were dropped by the company after WBD refused negotiations.
Fubo, WBD End Content Agreement
In a statement, Fubo detailed that the streaming provider offered WBD market rates. However, a counteroffer was not made between the companies, citing that WBD insisted on above-market rates for their content.
"Fubo views Warner Brothers Discovery's refusal to engage in good faith negotiations as another example of its abuse of massive market power that ultimately limits consumer choice," the New York-based company added.
Fubo has also attempted to license the Turner Sports trio, TNT, TBS, and truTV but failed to do so. All WBD networks were removed from the platform on April 30.
Previously, Fubo pulled out WarnerMedia networks like CNN, HLN, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, Boomerang, and Adult Swim after the streaming license expired.
WBD Defends Decision to Stop Fubo Renewal
WBD explained that the company drafted an extension proposal with no price changes. The company also argued that it was willing to work and negotiate with Fubo.
"It is unfortunate that Fubo has decided to alienate their own customers in this way," WBD wrote in response to Variety. The media giant also restated its priority to deliver the best value to its customers.
Previously, Fubo sued WBD, Disney, and Fox for alleged monopolistic practice for its plan to establish an all-in-one sports streaming platform. The streaming network emphasized the possible stifling of competition in the market and the higher pricing point for subscribers.
