Make your iPhone waterproof with this Impervious invisible spray (VIDEO)

A new project seeking funds on Kickstarter aims to make your iPhone waterproof with the Impervious invisible coating spray.

Water damage is one of the top causes for smartphone damage and returns, and not all handsets are protected against this risk. An increasing number of phone manufacturers are now building their high-end devices with dust- and water-resistance certification, but Apple has yet to add such ruggedness to its iPhones.

Apple's iPhones are widely popular worldwide and each iteration gains a strong crowd of fans and users, but extra durability would make them even more popular. High-end smartphones usually come with a price to match, and users who decide to make an investment for a top-notch device naturally expect it to be durable and withstand daily wear and tear.

Water damage can lead to expensive repair bills, but a new project now seeks to make your iPhone waterproof by simply applying an invisible spray coating. Until now, iPhone owners who wanted to waterproof their device didn't have many choices, but a Los Angeles-based company named Impervious has now created a new waterproofing spray specifically designed to protect the iPhone.

"Impervious is an invisible waterproofing spray for the iPhone," reads the project description on Kickstarter. "Using our specially formulated nano-technology, Impervious protects your devices against water damage and scratching. We have developed an easy to use application package that is available for purchase when you donate!"

"Impervious is an invisible nano spray (1000x smaller than a human hair) with super-hydrophobic properties. When properly applied to both the internal and external components of your device, Impervious creates microscopic layers that prevent water from coming in contact with the surface of your device."

The description further assures that the Impervious waterproofing spray will not damage the iPhone in any way, nor leave any residue on the device. The solution used for this hydrophobic spray is not based on water and it's perfectly suitable for electronics. The solution dries transparent or invisible to the treated surface, and has a life-span for up to three years, as opposed to other products that require users to constantly re-apply the coating.

As previously mentioned, the Impervious waterproofing spray for the iPhone is currently seeking funds on Kickstarter in order to move from the concept stage to actual production.
