Ahead of Samsung's K event scheduled to take place in Asia next week, the upcoming Galaxy K camera smartphone has popped up online in enticing photos.
The newly-leaked images give the world a first glimpse at the Android-powered camera phone with its telescopic lens all the way out, bolstering previous rumors that it will come with 10x zoom capabilities.
The upcoming camera phone from Samsung has been previously dubbed the Galaxy S5 Zoom or the Galaxy K Zoom, but now it is expected to launch simply as the Galaxy K.
The device shown in these images is wrapped up in what looks like a silicon case, which makes it a bit more difficult to determine its dimensions. Nonetheless, it does seem less bulky than its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, looking more like a smartphone than a camera. The photos surfaced on Baidu (via PhoneArena).
While nothing is official at this point, the Samsung Galaxy K is expected to sport notable improvements over the Galaxy S4 Zoom, sporting a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display, a six-core Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa SoC, and 2GB of RAM. The main attraction will, of course, be the camera, and the Galaxy K will reportedly rock a 20-megapixel rear shooter with 10x digital zoom and a Xenon flash. The camera smartphone is also rumored to have a 2-megapixel front shooter and run the very latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat straight out of the box.
Last year, many found the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom as a worthy choice for a smartphone camera, and its successor is expected to be much better. As previously mentioned, the Galaxy K was also referred to as the Galaxy S5 Zoom, as it is expected to borrow some features from the company's latest flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Samsung has yet to specifically announce its upcoming Galaxy K camera smartphone, but the company did schedule an event for April 29, which is less than a week away. The smartphone will make its debut at said event, as Samsung has offered hints in this regards in its invite. No details on pricing or worldwide availability have come up so far for the Galaxy K, but we should learn all there is to know soon enough. Stay tuned for more details as soon as they become available.
