X, formerly known as Twitter, has been through a lot of changes since Elon Musk acquired it. Some are welcome while most are criticized by long-time and new users alike. Musk is not done with reshaping the platform just yet as he adds a world to the list of slurs you cannot say on the site.
You Can't Say 'Cisgender' on X
There are a lot of words that can get you suspended or banned from the social media platform, no one would have expected "cisgender" to be one of them. It's not exactly an immoral word, but folks have a habit of turning something neutral bad.
Musk already expressed how he felt about the term last year, wherein he stated that the mentioned word and other forms of it are considered slurs on X. However, it was only recently that X has made it official, as reported by Engadget.
A warning will show up when the term is used, stating: "This post contains language that may be considered a slur by X and could be used in a harmful manner in violation of our rules." It's not limited to that one term. Any LGBTQ-inclusive jargon used in posts could have the poster banned from X.
After you see the warning, you'll still have the option to post it or not. It's unknown why Musk decided that a formal term for people whose gender identity is that of the sex they were born with is a slur, but anyone who wants to analyze the tech billionaire's logic would play a losing game.
To prove that the term is anything but derogatory, even the American Psychological Association, World Health Organization, American Medical Association, and American Psychiatric Association recognize and acknowledge the term.
In a way, this is another step back when it comes to inclusivity on the social media platform. It is becoming an increasingly unsafe space for people who don't conform to the norm or are even slightly different. It's even becoming a playground for bigots and racists.
Musk Accused of Being a Racist
The X owner isn't just linked to gender discrimination. There have been instances where he was also accused of being a racist. This has even caused his social media company to lose a lot of business as advertisers leave the platform.
In the post from an X user, it was said that Jewish communities have been "pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them," to which Musk replied: "You have said the actual truth."
To make amends for the massive screw-up, the tech billionaire visited the death camp in Auschwitz where many victims of the Holocaust suffered and died, as reported by AP News. probably to do damage control over the consequences of his opinions.
He said that the tragedy of the Holocaust "hits you much more in the heart when you see it in person." Then, he goes on to say things like "I have twice as many Jewish friends as non-Jewish friends. I'm like Jewish by association, I'm aspirationally Jewish."
