5 Intense TV Shows You Need a Strong Stomach For

Some of us want to unwind at the end of the day and watch a light-hearted TV show, usually in the comedy genre, while others are looking for more extreme shows that might make you lose your lunch. We all have preferences here, but if you're into the gory stuff, here are some shows you shouldn't miss.

1. 'The Boys'

Filled with supers and humans who want to get rid of the supers, you can already imagine how that might go. In most film and series content, someone always gets hurt when one is stronger than the other, and that's the case with "The Boys."

Even in the first episode, you'll already encounter one unexpected encounter that immediately sets a precedent for what to expect from the show. From people blowing after a speedster runs through them to people being forced to eat their animal friends, you'll be at the edge of your seat.

2. 'Game of Thrones'

Game of Thrones
HBO

We can all agree that "Game of Thrones" falls into a lot of categories, and gory is definitely one of them with all the mutilation, crushing, beheading, and burning that happens in the series. The first few seasons are light enough for you to get used to it.

If you ask anyone who has seen the series, they would tell you that the show takes it up a notch during season three. For one, it's where the introduction of a character who is fond of torture happens. Then, there's the wedding that every fan of the show will never forget.

3. 'The Walking Dead'

The Walking Dead
AMC

As the title already suggests, you'll be met with people who are already dead but are still just somewhat alive. Since they are technically deceased, zombies will start to rot even though they are still mobile. You can imagine what that looks like.

Even without showing much of the zombies, the state of the world has forced people to bring out the worst in them to survive, which means that you'll rarely see anyone who doesn't have blood on their hands. At the end of the world, people start getting creative about how they get rid of others.

4. 'Love, Death, & Robots'

Netflix

Not all episodes are gory or extreme, but some of them can be quite bloody. "Love, Death & Robots" has been applauded by the people who watched it because of the mind-bending premise of some of the episodes.

There are hilarious ones like the episode where yogurt took over the government and surpassed humans, but there are also episodes like "Swarm," where the greed of one human results in the death and torture of another as she is assimilated by having her brain physically taken over.

5. 'American Horror Stories'

FX

Just like "Love, Death, & Robots," the show's episodes are not connected, which means that you can watch each episode out of order and you won't miss any context. It will also allow you to pick the most graphic ones. Some seasons are not as well received, but you can rest assured they are all well-written.

There are so many sub-themes of horror that you can explore including occult, supernatural, psychological, and more. Some episodes are simply meant to disturb the viewers, while others are flat-out gross that you might end up skipping the episode.
