LG has confirmed that its much-rumored next-generation flagship, the LG G3, will make its debut in the second quarter, and May seems like a likely timeframe.
The company published its earnings report for the first quarter of this year and revealed at the same time that its LG G3 will arrive in the second quarter of 2014. LG posted its report on Tuesday, April 29, detailing its performance and offering estimates for the future.
In addition to all the numbers registered so far to detail its performance for the first quarter of 2014, LG also mentions that it expects higher profits in the second quarter due to the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the LG G3.
While last year the company unveiled its flagship LG G2 in August, followed by commercial availability in September, it seems that in 2014 LG is speeding things up and the LG G3 is making its debut sooner.
The LG G3 is one of the most highly-anticipated smartphones of this year and it is expected to come with high-end specs and features, going up against heavyweight flagships. So far LG had not confirmed anything regarding its upcoming G3, but its latest earnings report now makes it clear that an unveiling is imminent.
Considering that LG expects a major boost in profits due to the launch of its next-generation flagship smartphone, it's safe to assume the LG G3 will be a real powerhouse. Truth be told, LG does need a winning device to better compete against rivals in the increasingly fierce smartphone market, and the LG G3 might be it.
The aforementioned earnings report doesn't note when exactly in the second quarter the LG G3 will debut, but a new report from the Korean media says the handset will launch "by the end of May." Except for the wide 2Q timeframe and the actual name of the device, little is known regarding the LG G3. A few rumors and reports have tried to paint a picture of what to expect in terms of specifications, but it's all based solely on speculation at this point.
In addition to expectations of higher profits in the second quarter due to the launch of the LG G3, the company also mentioned that its LG Series III will become more widely available.
