HTC is reportedly working on a new version of its latest flagship, which will launch as the HTC One M8 Prime and boast a QHD display, among other killer specs.
This year, HTC managed to get its latest HTC One M8 flagship to hit retail the very same day it was officially announced, which was an impressive achievement. The HTC One M8 was one of the most highly-anticipated handsets of this year and now, after a few weeks of availability, it's shaping up to be a really successful smartphone.
HTC is expected to follow the same strategy it adopted last year and launch several spinoffs of its new flagship smartphone. After an HTC One Mini 2 recently leaked online, now we are hearing more about a purported HTC One M8 Prime.
Similarly to the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime variant, which is yet to be confirmed, the alleged HTC One M8 Prime is apparently set to go into QHD territory and rock an impressive resolution, as well as some notable improvements in terms of specs. The recently-launched HTC One M8 is already a powerhouse on its own, but the Prime version is expected to boast considerably more horsepower.
A list of specifications for this purported HTC One M8 Prime has leaked online, revealing that the smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch 2K display with a whopping resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the device will reportedly pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor (APQ8084) clocked at 2.3GHz, a hefty 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage capacity.
Moreover, the HTC One M8 Prime will reportedly sport Qualcomm's latest MDM9x35 multiple modem as well, which is the first to be based on the 20nm technology. According to the same source, the Prime version of HTC's latest flagship will also rock a new camera combo, consisting of "18 MP Depth / 5 MP UP." In other words, the HTC One M8 Prime will likely sport a 5-megapixel UltraPixel main rear sensor, complemented by an 18-megapixel secondary shooter.
Lastly, these publication that leaked this information further points out that these specs are likely for a developer unit, and the final product may boast even better hardware when it hits the market, purportedly around September this year.
Keep in mind, however, that none of this is confirmed, as HTC has yet to make an official announcement regarding any future versions of its latest HTC One M8 flagship. As always in such situations, it is highly advisable to take all leaks, rumors, and speculation with a hefty grain of salt.
