Apple to Allow Users Customize App Icons

Several weeks before the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), reports suggested that Apple will soon allow its users to customize their app icons with the introduction of iOS 18.

Multiple sources familiar with the situation have confirmed the feature ahead of the annual Apple event. According to them, users will experience an automatic dark or black tint on its app icons once Dark Mode is enabled.

The feature is expected to be limited to built-in Apple apps in the meantime. An API could solidify the plan that it will be extended in the future with third-party apps. Some users are also hoping that it will finally give users the full-blown Dark Mode appearance on their iPhones.

iOS 18 to Introduce Individual App Lock Using Face ID

Aside from changing icons, a new security feature is also headed to the users. Multiple sources reported that Apple will allow its users to lock individual apps using Face ID.

The feature is expected to hit the built-in iPhone apps like Mail, Messages, Notes, Photos, Settings, and more. The new security feature will increase the privacy and security of users since Face ID will be used to open specific apps.

Moreover, there are also reports suggesting that the locking apps could also be unlocked through Touch ID and iPhone passcode. Apple has been allowing users to lock specific content from the Notes and Photos app.

The new security feature will increase the protection of sensitive and personal information. The individual lock can be enabled separately from the overall iPhone lock.
