Motorola has just launched a new version of its widely popular Moto G, now adding 4G LTE support and a microSD card slot for additional memory.
The Moto G has been Motorola's best-selling device ever, as it offers good specs and features for a very affordable price tag. The smartphone has become wildly popular worldwide, especially in India, and it is often recommended as the best budget smartphone.
Aiming to bank on the great success of this smartphone, Motorola has now launched a new, more attractive version of the Moto G. The company is now taking pre-orders for the 4G Moto G with LTE on board, while also adding a microSD card slot for additional memory.
On the other hand, while the regular Moto G comes in 8GB and 16GB internal storage configurations, the 4G version only has 8GB of built-in storage, hence the microSD option for extra storage. Motorola doesn't mention just how much additional storage it will be able to support, but at least 32GB should be a given.
As expected, the price of this new Moto G version is slightly higher than the standard model, but LTE and microSD might be worth it for many. The LTE-enabled Moto G costs $219 unlocked and SIM-free, which is still quite a bargain for what it has to offer. Moreover, interested buyers can now also choose a white color option for their handset.
For just $40 more compared to the original model, many budget shoppers may find the new Moto G more appealing thanks to its LTE capabilities and the much-needed microSD card slot for additional memory. The original Moto G doesn't have a microSD card slot.
The new version of the Moto G with a LTE radio and expandable storage is now up for pre-order from Motorola's website at this link. As previously mentioned, this model will cost $219 and will ship sometime between June 3 - 6.
In separate news, Motorola has also revealed its much-rumored Moto E, which comes at an even lower price point than the Moto G. With its two very attractive budget offerings, Motorola hopes to eliminate feature phones once and for all.
