Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have become an integral part of many people's driving experience roughly a third of car buyers claimed that the lack of these features would be a deal-breaker.
While most people prefer either of the applications, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide different driving experiences depending on the situation, needs, and technology available.
Accessibility
One of Android Auto's primary advantages over Apple CarPlay is its accessibility to all partnered devices.
Unlike CarPlay being limited within the "Apple ecosystem," Android Auto users can connect any smartphone using the Android OS to their dashboard systems.
Best of all, most cars on the market already come with Android Auto, while CarPlay users would still need to download and install the app.
Although, if most of your devices are already under the Apple brand, using CarPlay could provide more accessibility features across all connected devices.
UI/UX Design
If there is one thing that Apple CarPlay is above and beyond its competitors, it is the user interface design of the app.
Not only can users integrate their smartphone features into the dashboard, but CarPlay offers users more control over their dashboard with its easily manageable design.
With Apple announcing a redesign for CarPlay in the coming months, users have more incentive to use the app rather than keep customizing with each Android Auto update.

Mapping System
The efficiency of the two dashboard apps' mapping systems is directly tied to the driver's location and destination.
Apple CarPlay users will have more inputs, including traffic and navigation details, if they are traveling in major cities and metropolitans.
On the other hand, the Google Maps-powered Android Auto will have a more uniform look regardless of location and country.
Third-Party Compatibility
If customizing your dashboard app is the goal, then only Google's Android Auto can provide the needed support system.
Although Google has started cracking down on third-party apps recently, Android Auto users would still have more handle on how their dashboard would look than the rigid design in Apple CarPlay.
