Midnight Society Pushes Dr. Disrespect Out

There is a myriad of things that a content creator can get "canceled" for, but some of them are more career-ending than others. Dr. Disrespect, also known as Guy Beahm, has had serious allegations pinned on him, and it might just be among the worst allegations a person gets.

After a former Twitch employee, Cody Conners said on X that the steamer had been sending messages of a sexual nature to a minor, which caused his permanent Twitch ban, the video game studio immediately investigated the matter.

Midnight Society co-founder Robert Bowling "immediately began an investigation" to know what he should do next. It wasn't long before the company concluded that the best course of action was to terminate its relationship with Dr. Disrespect, as pointed out by The Verge

"While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players," Midnight Society said on X.

Before the announcement, the streamer said that he was "fatigued" and considered "removing himself from the scene. He even added that he might "step away" from Midnight Society too. In under an hour, the studio posted its decision to cut ties with Dr. Disrespect.

Beahm himself denied the allegations on X. "I didn't do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found, and I was paid." The replies were filled with mixed reactions from followers and other users.

Some users stood by the content creator saying that no proof was posted, so they don't believe the allegations. Others are pointing out that he was not explicitly denying the claims and was vague in his statements about his innocence in the matter.

Dr. Disrespect's Twitch Ban

The steamer was among the biggest content creators on Twitch before he was banned, but even then, he was already tied to other issues including his controversial views on critical matters. However, his Twitch ban still came as a surprise since no reasons ever surfaced as to why it happened.

It wasn't until the former Twitch employee came forward and revealed the reason that everyone learned why he was banned. As it turns out, Beahm was "sexting" a minor through the Twitch whispers product and was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon, as per Kotaku

It didn't help the now-YouTuber that another former Twitch employee also came forward and corroborated Conner's claims, saying that he had used the shutdown Twitch whispers to exchange messages with a munir and initiated the conversation about meeting up at TwitchCon.
