Google Has Announced the Pixel 9 Series’ Official Release Date

A lot of rumors and leaks about the Pixel 9 series have been circulating online for a while, including when it is expected to be launched. It's earlier than anticipated considering that the last three lineups were introduced in October.

Pixel 9 Reveal This August

A lot of Google Pixel enthusiasts have been waiting for the announcement of the next Pixel series, and it will arrive sooner than they thought. With invitations sent out by Google for its launch event, the company will not follow its October timeframe but is going for August instead.

At first, the announcement did not specify which topics would be covered in the event, saying that it would focus on "the best of Google AI, Android software, and the Pixel portfolio of devices." It wasn't until the following teaser that the Pixel 9 was confirmed to be part of the event.

The teaser video doesn't really reveal much other than a couple of Roman numerals including "IX." If that wasn't confirmation enough, the URL has "google_pixel_9_pro" in it, as mentioned in Android Authority, so there's very little doubt left.

Before the official launch, one can only rely on leaks and rumors, such as Google making huge changes to the upcoming series. For instance, the Pixel 9 lineup will have three models, the standard Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL.

This is similar to Apple's strategies when releasing a new lineup. For instance, the iPhone 15 has the standard model, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Since that has been a successful tactic for the tech giant, it makes sense that Google aims to do the same.

As for the design, the edges might now be flat instead of rounded, and the camera bar would be the same level as the back of the device. Google might even release new models for the next foldable called Pixel Fold 2 or Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The event is set to take place this August 9th and will be held at the company's headquarters in Mountain View, California. It might even include announcements about a new Pixel Watch, although that's more of a speculation than an official announcement.

Even though we are close to the release of the next Pixel series, there are still a couple of issues that Google has to fix with its current devices, maybe even for the succeeding lineups. For instance, there is still concern about the vulnerabilities in Google Pixel's systems.

Federal Workers Required to Update Their Pixel Phones

As mentioned before, there are still risks with the use of Pixel phones. Google has warned federal employees that they should update their devices before the 4th of July or stop using the devices completely.

This is regarding the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog managed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, as per Gizmodo. Even other users are encouraged to do so especially if they connect their devices to enterprise systems.
