The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to make its debut at a Samsung Unpacked press event at IFA 2014 in September and now we have an exact date.
According to a new report, Samsung will officially unveil its next-generation Galaxy Note 4 phablet at an event on Sept. 3.
The news comes from the folks over at Android Geeks, who have exclusively obtained this information from a trusted insider.
"The same insider that exclusively told us last year that the Galaxy Note 3 launch was September 4th revealed for us that Samsung has scheduled the Galaxy Note 4 release date for September 3rd," the publication reports. "He also said that the South Korea-based phone maker will send out the invitations to the Unpacked event sometime mid-August."
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to have roughly the same display size as the current Galaxy Note 3, which has a 5.7-inch screen. The next iteration, however, will reportedly rock a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.
The Galaxy Note 4 is also expected to launch with different processors on board, depending on region. One version will reportedly have a Samsung Exynos Hexa core processor, while the other should boast the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset.
Considering that the current Galaxy Note 3 features 3GB of RAM, the next generation should come with at least 3, if not 4GB of RAM. The Note 3 successor will have some big shoes to fill, and Samsung will surely launch it with upgrades, not downgrades, so anything less than 3GB seems out of the question.
Other rumored specs for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 include a choice of 32GB or 64GB of internal storage capacity, as well as a micro SD card slot for additional memory of up to 128GB. The device is also rumored to have a 16-megapixel rear camera as the Galaxy S5, or an even higher-end 20-megapixel rear shooter, and potentially a 5-megapixel front camera (the current Note 3 has a 2-megapixel front shooter).
On the software side, the next-generation Samsung Galaxy Note 4 should rock the very latest version of Android. If Google unleashes its next major Android update before September, the Note 4 will most likely run that version out of the box. If not, it should run the latest version of KitKat.
Keep in mind, however, that it's all based solely on rumors and speculation at this point. Samsung has not announced nor confirmed anything, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
