Introduction of Shrek

"Shrek" was introduced in 2001 as a green ogre that is feared by everyone. The iconic opening scene showing Shrek's daily routine with the background music of "All-Star" sets the tone for his personality.

The legendary duo of Shrek and Donkey is established in the movie as they embark on their first journey to rescue Fiona from the dragon. The royal family's secret about Princess Fiona is finally revealed and we see how she transforms at night.

Shrek and Fiona's Relationship

The first movie ended with Fiona and Shrek finding and appreciating each other's presence. Shrek is finally introduced to King Harold and Queen Lilian as the pair seeks marriage approval.

Another fan-favorite character, Puss in Boots, is introduced in "Shrek 2" as he fights with Shrek. The shocking transformation of Shrek and Donkey after drinking Fairy Godmother's "Happily Ever After" potion is a surprising twist in the sequel.

Shrek Finds New King

"Shrek 3" starts with the emotional yet humorous passing of King Harold, who assumed a frog appearance as a consequence of "Shrek 2." The gang must find the next king which turned out to be less than what they expected.

Prince Charming will assume the role of the main antagonist as he tries to avenge his mother's death in the previous movie. Puss and Donkey's bodies were swapped during the half of the movie, giving the audience a good laugh as the two often banter.

Shrek in Midlife Crisis

Who would have thought that "Shrek" would tackle a midlife crisis? After the progressive events from the previous movies, Shrek must now face the reality of having a wife, kids, and many supportive people around them.

Due to overwhelming and repetitive life, Shrek decides to sign a deal with Rumpelstiltskin that will place him in an alternate universe. In this universe, Shrek never saved Fiona and they lead different lives.

Shrek soon realizes his mistake after seeing Fiona in a different life. He will fight Rumpelstiltskin's mischievous plan to restore his original life.

Puss in Boots' Solo Adventure

After the events of "Shrek Forever After," Dreamworks released a spin-off focused on fan-favorite Puss in Boots. The character was well-loved by fans and was given a backstory series and other extended adventures.
