Valorant is finally getting a console port, which means that there will be a lot of new players coming to the game. The beginning of a game is always rough, especially if you're going up against real players. Before you start playing, here are common mistakes you should avoid.
1. Running When Enemies Are Nearby
Like most multiplayer shooter games, your footsteps can be heard by the enemy team. They'll immediately know that you're close by and will prepare for an attack. You will lose the element of surprise and you could get your teammates killed as well. Either crouch or walk to approach silently and listen for the enemy team's footsteps as well.
2. Not Spending Creds Wisely
Apart from the 800 credits you get at the beginning of the match, you get creds based on your achievements such as kills or round wins. You need to learn how to spend the in-game currency wisely as it can determine how effective you can be in the next few rounds. Not having enough to buy heavier weapons, for instance, will put you at a disadvantage.
3. Panic Spraying
When you see an enemy, don't panic and immediately start spraying bullets. Chances are that only a few will hit them because of the bullet spread and you'll run out of bullets before you get the kill. Fire in short bursts as it will help with accuracy since there's less recoil, and you'll save bullets in the process.
4. Not Learning Basic Valorant Slang
There are common terms players use that you've probably already heard of like camping, heaven, rotate, and more. However, some words are unique to the game. For instance, when someone says "careful op," it means that there's someone with an Operator on the site, which is the name of the most powerful sniper in the game.

5. Misusing Abilities
Each agent in Valorant comes with their own abilities, and they depend on the kind class they are such as Controller, Duelist, Initiator, and Sentinel. Learn how to use your abilities properly since misusing them can harm your team. For instance, using Flash as an Initiator when your teammates are already on the site will blind and incapacitate them.
6. Choosing Agents That Don't Match Your Playstyle
As mentioned before, there are four different classes, and choosing your agent should be based on the playstyle you have or are comfortable with. If you usually scout the site and prepare it for entry, you would do well as an Initiator. If you want to create an environment that gives your team an advantage, you should play as the Controller.
7. Not Familiarizing Yourself With Maps
Knowing your way around the map will greatly affect your odds since you'll know the best places to enter, hide, or use your abilities. You should also learn the corresponding names for the locations within the map such as Site A or Site B, or even unofficial names like "B heaven," since teammates usually use those to coordinate with other players.
