The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealed that it had gained access to the point of the suspected shooter during former president Donald Trump's rally.
The investigation is still ongoing at the moment after one audience was killed and Trump reported bleeding in one ear.
FBI Analyzes Gunman's Phone as Investigation Pushes
The shooting occurred during Trump's rally speech last July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. The probe is still looking at an assassination attempt on the former president and a potential domestic terrorism.
In a press release, the FBI shared that its technical specialist successfully gained access to Thoma Matthew Crook's phone. The suspected gunman's other electronic devices are also being analyzed.
"The FBI has not identified a motive for the shooter's actions, but we are working to determine the sequence of events and the shooter's movements prior to the shooting, collecting and reviewing evidence, conducting interviews, and following up on all leads," the agency wrote.
Crooks was shot and killed in the incident. The gunman is reportedly registered as a Republican voter and has donated $15 to a Democratic-allied organization.
FBI Encourages Digital Media Tips From Witnesses
The FBI reported that it has received hundreds of digital media tips. Photos and videos taken at the scene are still encouraged to be sent online or to the tipline to help with the investigation.
The agency announced that nearly 100 interviews of law enforcement personnel, event audience, and other witnesses have been conducted at the moment. Crook's residence and vehicle have also been searched successfully.
The FBI has offered assistance to the victims of the incident. As of writing, thousands of videos and reactions to the events are still ongoing on the internet.
The agency is expected to give further updates once the analysis of Crook's electronic devices is done.
