CrowdStrike Releases $10 Uber Eats Gift Cards to Contractors After Massive Outage

CrowdStrike reportedly provided its affected contractors with $10 Uber Eats gift cards to apologize for the inconvenience brought by the July 19 IT outage.

Millions of Microsoft Windows computers experienced the "blue screen of death" last week due to a faulty update from the cybersecurity firm.

CrowdStrike Compensates for Affected Users of IT Outage

CrowdStrike is still struggling to recover from the crisis brought on by a faulty update. The global outage is expected to cost Fortune 500 companies billions of dollars due to the halted operations.

In an email addressed to "CrowdStrike partners," the firm apologized for the additional work due to the incident. The contractors that received the memo are involved in managing accounts for cybersecurity customers.

"To express our gratitude, your next cup of coffee or late-night snack is on us!" the email read, including a promo code for Uber Eats, which was reportedly sent under the name of the company's chief business officer Daniel Bernard.

CrowdStrike Limits Apology Gift Cards Under its Payroll

CrowdStrike confirmed that gift cards were sent only to contractors on its payroll and not to all clients and customers of the company.

"We did send these to our teammates and partners who have been helping customers through this situation. Uber flagged it as fraud because of high usage rates," a company spokesperson shared in a statement.

CrowdStrike stated that its cloud services are now improved and sped up their ability to make rapid communication to the sensor. The impacted version of channel file 291, which caused the outage, has been added to Falcon's known-bad list in the cloud.

Microsoft confirmed earlier this week that the massive IT outage affected 8.5 million Windows devices across the globe.
