Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet leaks with Verizon branding – Launch imminent?

Sony's new Xperia Z2 Tablet may be ready for a wider debut, as the slate is expected to launch on Verizon Wireless soon.

The Sony Xperia Z2 tablet made its debut back in February at the Mobile World Congress 2014, launching as the company's new flagship tablet for 2014. The slate is packed with high-end specs and features to make it worthy of the flagship title, and it's also waterproof for extra resistance.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet is already available for purchase across the world, and it's been rumored to reach Verizon's lineup for quite some time. So far that has not happened, but the latest leak suggests that it may launch on Big Red's network in the coming weeks.

The information comes from none other than well-known and trusted tipster @evleaks, who posted an image of the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet with Verizon branding. Unlike some other Verizon-bound devices, which make use of every bit of available space to slap the carrier's logo, the Xperia T2 only seems to have the branding on its rear.

On the hardware front, the Verizon Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is not expected to come with any changes compared to the original model. This means that it will boast a 10.1-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, and pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz under the hood.

Other specs of the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet include a hefty 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional storage, and a large 6,000 mAh battery. The slate further features an 8.1-megapixel rear camera, as well as a 2.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, sporting 1080p video recording capabilities. On the software side, the Xperia Z2 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

So far there's no official word regarding when the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet will finally make its debut on Verizon Wireless' network, so it's all in the rumor state for now. Evleaks may have a great reputation when it comes to leaking yet-to-be-announced devices and plans in the tech world, but it's always best to take everything with a grain of salt until an official announcement. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we hear more, so stay tuned.
