Samsung Galaxy F poses next to the Galaxy S5, shows impressively thin bezels

The purported Samsung Galaxy F, previously referred to as the Galaxy S5 Prime, has leaked in yet another image, now posing for the camera next to the original Galaxy S5.

The upcoming Galaxy F smartphone is expected to launch soon as the more premium version of the current flagship, boasting a higher-resolution display and finally ditching the plastic body for a metal design.

The purported smartphone has leaked on several occasions so far, suggesting that it may be approaching its debut, but the latest leak now gives us a better idea of what to expect. If this leak turns out to be accurate, one of the main attractions of the Samsung Galaxy F will be its display, which apparently features incredibly thin bezels.

Unlike previous leaks, the latest image from PhoneArena seems more informative because it shows the purported Galaxy F and the current Galaxy S5 side by side for a more convenient comparison. The displays are turned on for both devices and it's clear that the upcoming model (left) will sport significantly thinner bezels compared to the current flagship, which has fatter bezels that take up more space.

Bezels play a great role in a device's design and overall appearance, and often they are among the main reasons that smartphone are larger. Slimmer bezels allow manufacturers to increase the screen size without considerably increasing the device size as well, but things are not quite so simple from a design and engineering point of view.

Nevertheless, the great impact of thinner bezels cannot be disputed, and this new leak illustrates it perfectly. The Galaxy F will reportedly sport a 5.3-inch screen, slightly larger compared to the Galaxy S5's 5.1-inch display, but the difference seems very little noticeable in this photo of the two devices side by side. The Galaxy F's display is also rumored to boast QHD resolution, as well as some further improvements under the hood.

It remains unclear at this point, however, when this purported Galaxy F model will make its official debut, as it's all in the rumor state for now. Some reports speculated that Samsung may unveil this new smartphone at its Galaxy Premiere 2014 event on June 12, alongside new tablet offerings. If so, we'll be here to bring you all the latest news, so stay tuned.
