Motorola has officially released its budget-friendly Moto G in a 4G LTE model in the U.S., selling the device for $229 with 8GB of storage on board.
When Motorola first launched its Moto G smartphone towards the end of last year, it revolutionized what cheap, budget smartphones could offer. The Moto G came with impressive specs and features for the price tag it carried, and it also allowed for some degree of customization to offer a more personal experience.
Back in April of this year, rumors started to emerge claiming that Motorola was looking to launch a 4G LTE-enabled version of its budget-friendly Moto G. Motorola later confirmed those rumors when it started taking pre-orders for this model, and the Moto G 4G LTE is now officially available for purchase in the U.S.
The Moto G version with 4G LTE support is now listed on the Motorola U.S. website, sporting a $219 price tag for an 8GB model. No other internal storage configuration seems to be available, at least not for now, but the handset does have a microSD card slot for additional memory. The smartphone now appears as in stock and ready to ship, allowing users to choose their desired styling and accessories.
At the same time, the Moto G Universal 4G smartphone is also available for purchase from Amazon, at the same $219 price point for the unlocked model. The Moto G comes in black and white color options both on Motorola's website and on Amazon.
Aside from the added 4G LTE connectivity support, the Moto G remains unchanged in terms of specifications. This means that it sports the same 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 at 326 pixels per inch (ppi), 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, Adreno 305 graphics, and 1GB of RAM. Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front shooter, while a 2,070 mAh battery will keep things up and running. On the software side, the handset runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, upgradeable to the very latest Android 4.4.3.
With such an attractive price tag unlocked, decent specifications, the latest version of Android and now 4G LTE support as well, the Motorola Moto G seems to be increasingly attractive. It has already proved to be Motorola's most popular device, and the new option is expected to further boost sales. If you're interested in the 8GB Moto G with 4G LTE, head over to Motorola's website or Amazon and make your purchase.
