AT&T is adding two new mid-range devices to its portfolio, announcing the Windows Phone 8.1-powered Nokia Lumia 635 and the HTC Desire 610.
Both handsets will go on sale on Friday, July 25, and will be available without annual contracts through AT&T's GoPhone prepaid service.
Nokia Lumia 635
The Nokia Lumia 635 is among the very first devices to launch with Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 8.1 on board out of the box, and it's also the first to pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The smartphone doesn't boast any top-notch hardware specifications, but it will provide good performance on a budget. We recently learned that T-Mobile was launching the Lumia 635 on its network, and now AT&T is joining the party as well.
As a reminder, the Lumia 635 comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS LCD display, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB. Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1,830 mAh battery. Windows Phone 8.1 will bring notable improvements, including the much-touted Cortana virtual assistant.
The Nokia Lumia 635 will cost $99 on AT&T's GoPhone prepaid service, but this is a limited-time, promotional pricing set to expire on Aug. 8. After that date, the handset will cost $139.99 with no annual contract. The handset will also be available with AT&T Next 18 for $5.84 per month or Next 12 for $7 per month.
HTC Desire 610
The 4G LTE-enabled HTC Desire 610 is also a mid-range offering, but it comes with various entertainment features that usually grace higher-end flagship devices. For instance, the handset boasts dual front-facing BoomSound speakers, BlinkFeed, Zoe, and more.
In terms of specs, the HTC Desire 610 sports a 4.7-inch qHD display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,040 mAh battery.
The HTC Desire 610 will cost $199.99 without an annual contract and will be available for purchase online or in physical AT&T retail locations. The device will also be available with AT&T Next 18 for $8.34 per month or with Next 12 for $10 per month. The prepaid AT&T GoPhone HTC Desire 610 costs $199.99 as well.
