Sony Xperia Z3 hitting Verizon on Oct. 23 as slightly changed Xperia Z3v (VIDEO)

Sony is officially ready to launch its latest flagship on Verizon Wireless as the Xperia Z3v, which will join Big Red's lineup on Oct. 23.

The Sony Xperia Z3 has stirred plenty of waves since its announcement, and is expected to be one of the hottest devices of this year. While so far Sony has sold its smartphones in the U.S. either unlocked through its online store, or through a partnership with Un-carrier T-Mobile, the company is now ready to expand its reach.

The latest Sony flagship smartphone will enjoy a wider availability on the U.S. market, as it is set to hit Verizon Wireless on Oct. 23. Verizon's version of the handset will launch as the Sony Xperia Z3v and will sport some differences compared to the standard model.

In terms of design, the Sony Xperia Z3v looks quite similar to the Xperia Z2, as it lacks the rounded edges of the standard Xperia Z3. Nevertheless, Verizon's version will also sport a couple of positive changes, as it will pack a larger 3,200 mAh battery and will come with built-in wireless charging.

The rest of the specifications will remain unchanged, meaning that the Verizon-bound Sony Xperia Z3v will still come with a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory, and a high-end 20.7-megapixel rear shooter. Sony's waterproofing technology is also on board, as expected.

"Xperia Z3v brings many of our latest innovations and standout features to Verizon customers in the US, such as the highest waterproof rating, Hi-Res Audio support, PlayStation 4 gaming through PS4 Remote Play and the camera expertise of our Cyber-shot and Handycam divisions in the 20.7MP camera," Sony touts in a new blog post. "In addition, we've collaborated with Verizon to bring some additional capabilities with their customer in mind, such as wireless charging using the latest inductive 'Qi' technology."

In terms of pricing and availability, the Sony Xperia Z3v will be available for $200 with a two-year contract starting on Oct. 23, when it joins Verizon's lineup.
