T-Mobile has announced exciting new Simply Prepaid plans set to launch on Jan. 25, aiming to lure in more customers from rival operators.
For a good while now, T-Mobile has been trying to revolutionize the mobile market by offering increasingly attractive offers and calling itself the "Un-carrier." The operator is now at it again, spicing up its prepaid plans.
Starting on Jan. 25, T-Mobile will launch its new Simply Prepaid plans starting at $40 per month, offering unlimited data, talk, and text. The Un-carrier is also offering plans at $50 and $60 per month, which add more 4G LTE data. More specifically, the $40 plan includes 1GB of monthly 4G data, the $50 plan offers 3GB of monthly 4G LTE data, while the $60 plan ups that allowance to 5GB of monthly 4G LTE data. Once customers consume their allotment of 4G data, their connection will drop to 2G for the rest of the month.
"Simply Prepaid is the perfect complement to T-Mobile's wildly popular Simple Choice plan - and is designed with the same focus on simplicity, fairness and value. While Simply Prepaid has fewer bells and whistles, it comes with lower prices and everything else prepaid customers want, including the nationwide 4G LTE network designed Data Strong," the Un-carrier boasted in a press release on Thursday, Jan. 15.
"There's a reason the Un-carrier continues to be #1 in prepaid, and it starts with our willingness to break the rules and give customers better choices," added John Legere, T-Mobile president and CEO. "We will never stop eliminating customer pain points. The 1.2 million net new prepaid customers who joined T-Mobile last year already see that value, and we have no plans to stop there."
T-Mobile's new Simply Prepaid plans will be available alongside its other prepaid offerings, while also competing with similar options from rival carriers. As the prepaid market keeps gaining momentum, T-Mobile wants to be the go-to carrier for such options.
The existing T-Mobile Simple Choice prepaid plans will continue to be available as they are, offering customers unlimited talk, text, and data, including 1GB of 4G LTE, for a starting price of $50 per month. Unlike the new Simply Prepaid plans, however, Simple Choice also includes an unlimited 4G LTE option that goes up to $80 per month. Other Simple Choice plans offer 3GB and 5GB of 4G LTE data for $60 and $70 per month, respectively.
Lastly, it's worth pointing out that T-Mobile's new Simply Prepaid plans will not include tethering, and customers will not be able to roll out unused data over to the next month.
