Samsung Galaxy Blade Edge smartknife debuts as sharpest device yet

If you can't get enough of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, you now have another exciting gadget to drool over: the Galaxy Blade Edge.

In an era of smart homes and high-tech kitchens, the new Samsung Galaxy Blade Edge Chef's Edition will fit right in, coming as the sharpest Samsung device ever. The gadget comes with a foldable handle, a ceramic and diamond edge blade and, of course, waterproof capabilities. Moreover, the Galaxy Blade Edge also has a high-end camera so you can photograph your food every step of the way.

"Samsung is proud to announce the world's first smart knife with smartphone capabilities, the Galaxy BLADE edge. Galaxy BLADE edge is the ultimate cooking companion, made with the modern chef in mind. Building on the expertise it has already displayed with its Chef Collection series, Samsung is taking its commitment to culinary expertise and cutting-edge technology even further - literally," the company boasts in a new press release.

"Running on the latest OS, the Galaxy BLADE edge comes with all the incredible features of the Galaxy S6, but its edge is so sharp and strong that the device can also serve as a chef's knife. In fact, the Galaxy BLADE edge could very well render all the knives in your kitchen obsolete."

The Samsung Galaxy Blade Edge also has a slew of sensors and algorithms that can learn the user's dexterity, strength, and grip, and adapt accordingly. Moreover, it will also automatically adjust the slicing and dicing speed based on your skills to allow you to work 50 percent faster than with an ordinary knife.

As expected, the much-touted Samsung KNOX security system is also on board, and will activate a finger-detection mechanism once you scan your fingerprint on the home button. With this mechanism in place, you won't have to worry about cutting yourself with the Galaxy Blade Edge. You will not be able to use the device as a weapon either, as it will not let you hurt someone else.

"A human blood sensor is also available, preventing the device from being used in violent situations. Should the blade make contact with human blood, the device will automatically place an emergency call to the appropriate authorities," Samsung warns.
