YouTube has announced that the company will launch this summer a gaming website and a gaming mobile application called YouTube Gaming.
The giant of online video streaming is taking initiatives to attract gamers. Alan Joyce, the YouTube product manager, declared that the YouTube Gaming website will be a destination for finding Internet personalities, live streams, and gaming videos. The website and the mobile gaming app will feature more than 25,000 game titles.
By creating singular links that can be shared, the new YouTube gaming website will also make it easier for users to broadcast e-sports, which are competitive and live gaming, without the need to schedule the broadcast.
The new YouTube gaming website will go live soon. And in the coming weeks, it is expected that the developers will make many improvements. Beginning Tuesday, June 16, the YouTube gaming website is previewed on the E3 show floor, at YouTube's booth. The new gaming website and mobile gaming app from YouTube will be launched this summer in both UK and US.
The announcement made by Google-owned YouTube aims directly at the gaming-centric streaming video website Twitch, acquired last year by Amazon. Twitch has positioned over the past years as a destination for streaming gameplay from popular titles such as "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" and "League of Legends", while YouTube has remained a dominant online video site. Around 1.5 million broadcasters are watched on Twitch every month by 100 million users.
Today, the gaming world is becoming much more diverse than ever in the past. New formats are created for the gaming community, making the playing experience more interactive and collaborative. Gaming has included new genres of videos on YouTube, from walkthroughs, let's plays, and speed-runs, to music and cooking videos.
With YouTube Gaming launch this summer, a brand new website will keep gamers around the world connected all in one place to the gaming culture, other players, and the game titles that matter, via live streams, videos, and the biggest community of players on the web.
The developers of the new YouTube Gaming website hope that after the launch scheduled for this summer, this will quickly become the favorite online meeting place for gamers. The website promises to host more gaming videos than anywhere else on the Internet.
More than 25,000 games will be hosted on the website, each of them with its own page with live streams and the best videos about the game. Some of which are those popular game titles, from "Zelda" to "Asteroids". YouTube Gaming will also host channels from the YouTube creators and various game publishers.
