Apple has brought its line of revamped iPods, specifically the iPod touch, on Wednesday, July 15. This week, rumours of the company releasing updated versions of its portable music players, have made their rounds on the internet.
Reports have also indicated that the tech giant will be including improved iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle models in the roll out of the music players. Apple has last updated its iPod line in 2012, with the release of the iPod Touch. Now, the iPod Touch looks like an iPhone without cell connection.
The design and the size will make the device easily mistaken for Apple's recent smartphone, the iPhone 6. Only that, of course, it is not a smartphone. It's a music device now equipped with a larger megapixel for its rear camera, with 8 megapixels (the rear camera of the earlier iPod Touch is only 5 MP). Its front camera will have 1.2 MP.
According to CNN Money, the new iPod Touch will also be able to take panoramas and timelapse videos. It will also be able to record videos in 720HD. The device will run iOS 8, which will enable it to access Apple Music, the company's newly released music streaming platform. These are mostly the noted features of the device, among others.
So far, there have been no other updates regarding the other two iPod models, iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle. The devices being sold in new colors have at least been confirmed. The iPods will be sold in pink, blue, silver, black and grey.
Apple has been more visible in the smartphone and PC businesses over the recent years, with the bulk of its overall sales coming from iPhones. But the launch of the iPod in 2001 has given the Apple brand a solid following. Because of its size and portability, iPods have been the preferred device for people who want their music on the go.
