AT&T To Launch Asus Intel-Based Zenfone 2E

Taiwanese company Asus has been well-known for making smartphones which are priced lower than the competition, but stil are as functional. Many popular mobile startups come from China and Taiwan, with Xiaomi and OnePlus making waves in the worldwide smartphone market. Asus, also a popular tech brand in the countries, but more known for PCs and other hardwares, has released its Intel-based Zenfone 2E model recently.

According to Softpedia, the new handset is powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has an 8-megapixel camera, and is equipped with an Intel processor. The processor is complemented by the 1 GB RAM. It is a 1.6 GHz dual core Z72560 processor.

Among the specs mentioned, the phone's memory is one of its weak points. The mobile phone only has 8GB internal capacity, found on the side of the phone. The largest it can expand to is 32 GB, with the use of an SD Card. This is particularly small, especially since smartphones these days have memory that can expand to up to four times the maximum capacity of Zenfone 2E's.

Battery capacity is also small, since the device has 2,200 mAH. The phone has a 5-inch HD display of 720p. It also offers LTE support as well as wi-fi and bluetooth.

Nonetheless, the Zenfone 2E is a high-end Android smartphone. It has just been tested in North America, and major mobile network provider AT&T has offered to sell it outright via its GoPhone service. The device will be priced at The prepaid Zenfone 2E will be made available by AT&T beginning on Friday, July 24. Retailer Best Buy will also sell the new mobile model. The price is still unannounced, but sale will start on August 2.

Asus is a leading PC tech company in Taiwan. It claims to employ 11,000 people around the world, and has been awarded accolades for its efficient products. Most notable among its line of hardwares are its tablets and laptops. The revenue of the company was said to have reached billion in 2011.
