Xiaomi May Release A Windows 10 Tablet On August 16

China's popular startup Xiaomi is rumoured to be working on a new tablet. Now, instead of being powered by the company's MIUI system, the tablet will run on Windows 10. Tech analyst Pan Jiutang said that the mobile startup is working with the software giant for the device's possible release sometime in the third quarter of the year. The tablet is slated to hit the market on August 16, said a Tech Times report.

Pan Jiutang has not divulged on further details of the new device. If the rumours stand to be true, the Windows 10 tablet may be the next Mi Pad. Some interesting speculations claim that the tablet can run both Windows 10 and android. As of now, it still is not clear whether the device will run on the standard Windows 10 operating system or the Windows 10 mobile OS. It still has not been confirmed whether there is going to be such a device at all.

Xiaomi's Mi Pad measures 8 inches. If the tablet is indeed poised to become Mi Pad's successor, then the software company has already hinted, though indirectly, that the device will run the standard Windows 10. Microsoft has previously said that the standard Windows 10 is ideal for devices that measure 8 inches and above.

Xiaomi has already partnered with Microsoft before. The Chinese startup has enabled its Mi 4 users to participate in testing the Windows 10 beta versions for mobile before the operating system's July 29 release. Mi 4 is the brand's flagship smartphone.

In China, the Windows operating system for mobile is not widely adopted. If the software company's aim is to have a broader reach to the Chinese market, then a full-fledged partnership with Xiaomi for an official device may do just that for Microsoft. Xiaomi is the leading Chinese smartphone brand. It has reportedly sold 35 million units around the world this year. Although, the bulk of its sales comes from its country of origin, it is fast making a name in the international smartphone scene.
