Microsoft has announced that its gaming console, the Xbox One, will be getting some major additions and features incorporated to it in the coming months. Three features have been listed and all of them are pointing towards a different gaming experience for Xbox One owners. And surely, they are all intended to make Xbox One part of the Windows 10 roll out.
First is the integration of Windows 10 to the device. The Xbox One will be getting a redesigned dashboard, which will bring Windows 10 to the gaming console sometime in November this year. The new operating system is intended to improve the speed of the gaming console.
If Windows 10 comes to the device, then so will voice assistant Cortana. According to Times of India, the device needs to have the audio control sensor, Kinect, for Cortana to be incorporated to the console. Much like how it works with other devices, Xbox One users can have Cortana assist in locating programs in the device, among other things.
The third is the new TV DVR feature, which is set to come to the console in 2016. The TV DVR enables users to record TV. A subscription is not required to use the feature. TV DVR will also allow users to stream games and download TV shows to Windows 10 PCs.
The software company's newest operating system has already begun rolling out to Microsoft's devices. Upon its release last week, it has already been made available by some PC makers. Microsoft has also recently announced which phones will get the operating system first.
Cortana, meanwhile, is one of the first features announced to be part of the Windows 10 roll out. It has recently crossed over from being a mobile app to a feature of the new operating system, working hand in hand with a web browser, Edge.
The Xbox One is one of the top two sellers in the gaming device business. A previous report stated that the device comes in second to Sony's PlayStation 4. The total sales of the console are placed at a 13 million-unit sale. Microsoft has not confirmed the estimate.
Still in the game console topic, Microsoft has recently introduced a limited edition Xbox One. The device boasts a 1 TB storage. It has metallic blue detailing on the sides of the console and controller. The limited edition device retails for $499.
