Toshiba Launches New Laptop/Tablet Hybrid Device With 4K Screen

Most laptops measure about 13 to 14 inches to fit in bigger screen resolutions. Japanese gadgets maker Toshiba, however, has released a new laptop/tablet hybrid, which, at 12.5 inches, fits in a high-resolution 4K screen. The new device has been launched on Wednesday, Sept. 2. The device boasts many high-end features developed by Toshiba.

Having a 4K screen, the new device, called Satellite Radius 12, has a resolution of 3,840x2,1600 pixels for its display. Mashable compared this to other laptops, which normally fall into an average of about 3,000x1,200 pixels for screen resolutions. The site shows that some devices it named are bigger than the Satellite Radius 12 but have a lower resolution compared to the 12.5-inch device.

A plus for the device is that it is equipped with Intel's new processor, codenamed Skylake, which turned out to be the Intel sixth generation Core processor. The chip, which supports wireless settings, will presumably gear the gadget up for better performance, larger memory and a longer battery life, as Intel also claims that the chip consumes less charge from the device.

The Satellite Radius 12 weighs 2.9 pounds and is 0.6 inches thick, already considerably thin and light when compared to other similar devices. The gadget is also Technicolor Color certified, which means high accuracy when it comes to colors and screen clarity as well. The device is reported to be available in the United States later in the year.

The Satellite Radius 12 is not the only Toshiba product that boasts a great display. The company's Chromebook 2, which has been launched earlier this year, has a screen resolution that can rival those of more high-end devices. Priced at $330, the Chromebook 2 has been reported to really bring value for money with features that are at par with devices double and triple its price.

Toshiba may enjoy the same good reviews with its newest device. The quality and performance are presumably already there. Now there's only the price that needs to be known, and Toshiba has left it unannounced at the moment.
