The Microsoft Band is not really seen as a stylish wearable device. However, the flat-faced device's successor looks like a wearable that one will not mind having on. Renders of the Microsoft Band 2 have made their rounds on the internet over the past few days and based on how it looks, the curved display may just attract more customers to the new product.
The leaked renders first made an appearance on Sunday, via Microsoft Insider. According to Venture Beat, the new device is expected to have a metallic finish, at least for its front display. Added functionality can also be expected of the new wearable. Th Microsoft Band 2 will have physical buttons and new functions that include being able to measure elevation.
Envoy, another tweak that has been made on the device, gives a new location for the wearable's battery. The battery can now be found under the display. It used to be found on the sides of the device. Engadget notes that not much has been detailed regarding the wearable's internal functionality. Microsoft has also not confirmed a launch date as of yet.
But the Redmond giant has a hardware launching event on Oct 6 and many speculations point to the event as the most likely venue for releasing the second generation Microsoft Band. The device will most likely be available in more countries upon its release. The launch will possibly reach European countries such as Germany, Italy, France and Spain.
Microsoft has announced the original Microsoft Band last year. The first generation wearable has garnered mixed reviews. Microsoft Band has also come with the Microsoft Health App, which syncs data from the wearable to other devices. Microsoft Band has sensors that count the number of steps and monitor heart rate, skin temperature and ambient light. Improvements in these features are expected to be seen in the Microsoft Band 2. The wearable is likely to cost more than the $199 price tag Microsoft Band has.
