It's another victory from Apple. Cupertino's latest mobile operating system, iOS 9, has been adopted by 50% of users in Apple's ecosystem as of Sept 19. Just a few days before the latest iPhones hit release date, reports have surfaced that iOS 9 has been well received by users, all thanks to its host of new features and several improvements that are built in with the operating system.
9to5Mac reports that the reception to the latest update has been the most successful as compared to other iOS release, with 50% of its user base now sporting iOS9. Although initially, adoption rate started out by 12% in the first 24 hours, similar to what happened during the release of iOS 8 last year, with iOS 7 trumping the uptake with its 20% adoption rate during its course.
The update to iOS brings key features that put multitasking and longevity to a whole new level. The iPad is now capable of running two applications at the same time, side by side -- a feature that can easily make full use of the tablet's size. The new News app also brings all of the new stories its users are interested in without having to scour the internet for consuming media and information. Articles are pulled from popular news websites and it is even capable of adapting the more the users utilize the app.
The Notes app has also received its long due upgrade. Users can make an easy-to-do checklist and adding media such as photo, map, a web link to a note or even drawing a sketch with the user's finger will no longer be a proble. It even syncs to the user's iCloud account, thereby updating it across every Apple device.
IOS 9 also makes full use of ambient light and proximity sensors to determine whether the user's device is facedown to prevent the screen from turning on. Plus, it even comes with a new Low Power mode to bring a more extensive battery life to Apple devices.
The percentage of Apple's iOS 9 is expected to continue to rise, especially now that the release date of the latest iPhones is just around the corner.
