The Dual-Screened LG V10 Shown In Another Leak

LG has made several breakthrough when it comes to smartphone technology -- the G3 being one of the very first smartphones to don a UHD display, a self-healing panel with the G Flex and the first phone with a personality, the AKA. The South Korean tech giant is looking for another breakthrough -- a dual-screen smartphone with a dual-screen setup and flagship caliber specs, the V10.

The LG V10 features two front displays - one for the main screen for the basic smartphone interaction while the second display is a small secondary screen above it. In the recent leaks, the V10's secondary display features five app shortcuts. Rumors and speculations suggest that LG is planning to use this for contact shortcuts and other applications as well, similar to what the edged displays on Samsung's latest Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge+ do.

This isn't relatively the first time a secondary display in front of a smartphone was released. Samsung back in the Eclair and Froyo days of Android released the Continuum -- a smartphone with the same approach, albeit with less much fanfare. However, the Samsung Continuum did not receive much attraction during its time making it unclear if LG's take on a dual-screened smartphone will be any different.

The only chance the V10 has for mainstream attention, other than its dual-screen setup, is its specifications. Rumors suggest that the V10 will be armed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and its main display that's said to be sporting a QHD resolution. It will also come with a 16MP primary shooter with dual-LED flash and laser autofocus plus a 5MP secondary snapper for selfies and video messaging. The fingerprint scanner will also be onboard and accessible via the power key.

The LG V10 looks to be a more souped up version of the company's latest flagship, the G4. It carries the same signature design language fro LG's recent smartphones, but it will not have the same premium leather back cover the G4 currently offers.
