Now You Can Acces Netflix Via iOS App

Video streaming service is a lucrative business in itself. Factor in a mobile component for easier accessibility, then a wider audience may be reached by the service. These days, pretty much everything can be accessed by any internet-connected device. Mobile phones, in particular, are equipped with apps for virtually any need and service that caters to users.

Online streaming is one such service, and platforms from HBO and Hulu have already allowed potential clients to sign up via mobile apps. Now, another big name in the streaming service business is bringing in its subscription service to smartphones. Via Twitter, Netflix has announced that iOS users can now sign up for its service using iPhones and iPads.

PC Mag reports that the announcement shows a video starring Uzo Abuda and Danielle Brooks. The two characters see a mysterious iPhone and meets Apple voice assistant Siri. Netflix users have had to sign up by accessing the service's website until now. The new in-app purchase feature is brought about by Apple's cut with Netflix, in which the service gets 70 percent, and Apple gets 30 percent.

If users sign up for Netflix via the app, the ratio will then apply. Netflix gets the entire 100 percent share if users sign up via the website. HBO and Hulu have similarly given ties with Apple for their respective apps. Apple's in-app purchase revenue demand to Netflix has been implemented since 2011. HBO Now used to be exclusive to Apple, but has since expanded to Android as well.

The Netflix app is also available to Android, but the in-app purchase feature has not been confirmed to have roled out to the OS. Netflix is currently developing a Netflix app for Samsung's VR set, Oculus. The service announced this on Thursday, Sept. 24, via its official blog post. The app has been made available to Oculus users on the same day.
