Facebook crashing is a regular person's nightmare and a boss's delight. Once social networking sites crash, people will actually have to do some work and they will be able to do it without their employers having to worry that they're just browsing their feeds on their computers, or that the site is distracting them. This is exactly what happened to Facebook on Sept. 28, Monday.
For the second time this week, the social networking site has crashed, leaving users with impossibly long loading time, or making them unable to access their pages at all. According to Mirror Daily, this is also the third time in three weeks that the platform has crashed. The crash on Monday lasted about forty-five minutes, with the page restoring for a short while, and then going down again. Users have frantically refreshed the page, to no avail. The crash happened between 3 pm to 4 pm EDT.
The following message has appeared on Facebook after several attempts of users to have it working, "Sorry. Something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can." Users took to other social media platforms to express their reaction over the Facebook crash. On Twitter, the #FacebookDown has trended for several hours.
DownDetector has shown that majority of the complaints during the Facebook crash reported total blackouts of the site, at 47 percent. Forty percent of the complaints, on the other hand, were login issues. Twelve percent reported problems in loading pictures. A Facebook spokesperson reported that the outage has been caused by a configuration issue and has apologised for any inconveniences the crash has caused.
The number of Facebook users affected by the outage still remains unspecified. However, reports show that many of the 1 billion users have been affected by the outage. Facebook has also gone down on Sept. 17, Thursday, for several minutes.
