The lucrative smartphone market has been dominated by the likes of tech giants such as Google and Apple.
It is either iOS or Android, leaving little to no room for other manufacturers and operating systems to move. However, that may be overturned soon as Microsoft brings out the start of a new Windows 10 mobile experience. Three new Lumia phones have officially been announced by the software giant, and the newest lineup may have a shot of setting things up for the Windows 10 mobile platform.
Microsoft Lumia 550
Microsoft's Lumia 550 starts the series at $139.00 - it is an entry-level Windows 10 smartphone to represent the company in the value category. It carries the Lumia design language, which is to be expected in the lineup. Furthermore, Microsoft stepped up its budget-friendly smartphone by bumping the panel to a 4.7-inch 720 p display.
As far as the internals goes, the Lumia 550 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset with a Cortex-A7 quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. It also comes with 8 GB of storage that is expandable via microSD card. As for the camera, it comes with a 5 MP primary shooter and a 2 MP secondary snapper, Microsoft even graced it with a hardware shutter key despite its price.
Microsoft Lumia 950
The Lumia 950 is built for those looking for a performance-diven smartphone that's handy and classy. For starters, it comes with a 5.2-inch WQHD OLED display, coupled with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. The primary shooter is a 20 MP PureView with ZEISS optics with Optical Image Stabilization and 4K capabilities, and on the front end is a 5 MP snapper with iris recognition for Windows Hello security. A USB Type-C is gracing the bottom of the screen as well. The Lumia 950 will be available for $549 in November.
Microsoft Lumia 950 XL
The Lumia 950 XL is Microsoft's crème de la crème. Featuring beastly hardware and classic design, the Lumia 950 XL is tagged as the company's flagship. It's powered by the latest generation of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset to bring flagship-grade performance out of the box.
It comes with a liquid cooling setup similar to the one found on the Surface Pro 3 to deliver better cooling performance. It features a 20 MP PureView shooter with ZEISS optics, OIS and RGB flash setup to eliminate red eyes. On the front is a 5 MP wide-angle camera that is perfect for 'selfie's and 'groufies.' LTE Cat. 6 support is also onboard to bring blazing fast internet speeds as well. It will be out starting in November for a selling price of $649.00.
