Sony Drops PlayStation 4 Prices In Europe

The holiday season is fast approaching. Time again for product manufacturers to use this to their advantage. The season is also a time for big sales as Sony suggests with the announcement of a price drop on its PlayStation 4 console in some parts of Europe.

As the tech industry booms, more and more people look forward to a gaming night or a TV show marathon as they cosy up at home with their families. And nowadays, it is not only the kids who look forward to getting some new toys, or rather, gadgets, as gifts.

According to the company's blog, it will begin selling the popular game machine at new lower prices in a dozen countries. Sony has earlier announced a price cut of the console in the Unites States, Canada and Japan.

The PlayStation 4 will sell for €349.99 in Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Benelux, France and Italy. In countries such as Germany and Austria, the device will now cost €349.95. The price of the PlayStation 4 in Australia will now be AU$479.95, while in New Zealand, the game console costs NZ$569.99. In United Kingdom, the PlayStation 4 is priced at £299.99. Finally, in United Arab Emirates, the price is AE$1,399.

In the United States, the Japanese company has announced prices that amount to about US$350 for the console. Thus, prices vary for other packages. Most of the price differences and changes have taken effect earlier this month. The company has a list of its packages available in Europe on its website.

The PlayStation 4 is the top-selling game machine in the world, besting Microsoft's Xbox One and Nintendo's WiiU. Between its release on Nov. 2013 and March this year, the company has sold over 25 million units. Analysts say that the key to increase game console sales is to have a solid market in the U.S., where the gap between the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One is narrowing.
