Apple Music has just been around for a couple of months, but the service has already garnered a considerable following. Last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the music streaming service has already reached 15 million users. The app currently has 6.5 million paying subscribers, while the other 8.5 million are participating in the 90-day free trial.
Recently, Apple has also confirmed that Apple Music will be coming to Android this coming fall. And screenshots of the alleged Apple Music for Android have made their rounds over the internet, as if to back up the confirmation. A Venture Beat report has shown the screenshots in question, which reveal an almost identical user interface to the iOS version.
The report shows that the Android version will also let users have access to the entire Apple Music catalog. Also shown is the recommendation engine, which has been commended as "surprisingly strong." The Beat 1 Radio is also present in the Android version. Apple has also redesigned the app using many of Android's UI elements.
For instance, the Android version sports the hamburger menu. Another Android element is the slide-out sidebar navigation. But the new Ui does not completely follow the Android Material Design. The For Me section is said to look almost identical to the iOS version of the service. Features in the Android version that are not in Apple Music for iOS include letting users shorten the cache for songs, which have been saved for offline playing. Website 9to5 Mac has also noted that the service includes Apple Music Connect, a network for musicians.
The screenshots have not disclosed how Android users will be able to find the cache feature. The company has also yet to confirm a specific release date for Apple Music for Android. The app is currently in its testing stages. Reports say that the images appear to be legitimate as they match Apple's teaser of the upcoming Android version of the Apple Music.
