Huawei Shipped 27 Million Handsets In Q3

Huawei as of late has been dominating the smartphone spectrum. The Chinese handset manufacturer has been growing exponentially over the years, and its market presence has now become well recognized. Furthermore, the company has recently announced its results for Q3 of this year. And according to its Consumer Business Group, the total shipment of smartphones for the three months ending in September has amounted to 27.4 million units - a big jump of 63 percent year on year.

According to market research firm Canalys, Huawei has now surpassed another Chinese handset manufacturer, Xiaomi, taking its spot as China's largest smartphone manufacturer in the third quarter of this year. Canalys, however, did not disclose the exact numbers of units shipped by Huawei, but the company has recently revealed via Twitter that it shipped a total of 27.4 million handsets last quarter, while also thanking its fans in the process.

According to reports, Huawei has attributed the rise in device shipments to the people's increased interest in handsets in the mid-ranged and high-end segments, which acocunts for the 33 percent of the 27.4 million units. This also marks an increase of seven percent quarter on quarter.

On the other hand, Xiaomi has shipped about 18.5 million handsets in the same quarter. By comparison, that's about 8.9 million fewer handsets shipped than Huawei. Reportedly, Xiaomi wanted to ship 80 million smartphones worldwide this year, but the Chinese company has only shipped about 53.2 million handsets thus far.

Huawei, in partnership with Google, has also built the latest Nexus 6P that was recently unveiled in the search engine giant's event. The handset would most likely play a significant boost with its high penetration rate in the market as pre-orders have become live, and store availability is soon to hit.

Huawei has also unveiled the Honor 5X in China, a smartphone with 3 GB of RAM and a fingerprint scanner. Furthermore, the Chinese tech giant is also set to launch its Kirin 950 chipset this coming week.
