Those who have embraced Google's services will easily find the search engine giant's apps nothing short of an essential. The company's Docs, Maps and Drive apps have become streamlined that everyone - from home consumers to enterprise consumers - has began using it for their daily activities. As such, Google is also nonstop in improving its services further as it adds more features to its apps. With Google Drive's user base getting bigger and bigger, the company has seen it fit to bring more convenience in sharing files.
In its latest update, Google's Drive for both Android and iOS will now be able to push notifications whenever a file is shared to its users. Not only are the notifications alerts, but they also function as quick links so that the users will be able to go into the specific file or folder that was shared.
Checking your email may not be the fastest way to find out when something's been shared with someone. So starting today, that one will receive mobile notifications to be alerted immediately when files or folders are shared and with a single tap it can take the user to right to them," says Alex Vogenthaler, Group Product Manager of Google Drive through the official blog.
Furthermore, requesting and granting file access is much easier this time around as Drive. Users who have notifications switched on for a specific file or folder can quickly be alerted with push notifications so that they will be able to give permission right from the get go with a single tap.
Google will also allow any user to preview files without having the need to create a Google Account on Android. Until now, users are required to have a Google Account in order for them to view files that are shared to their devices. Now, the latest update makes it possible even without one, just like on an internet browser.
