It seems that the next-gen iPhone, dubbed by some as the iPhone 7, is the most controversial for Apple. It is controversial not only owing to the purported radical changes Apple plans to make, but also for the features and specs that will remain unchanged.
The good as well as the bad news regarding the upcoming iPhone 7 was revealed this week by the French technology focused website Nowhereelse.fr. Earlier, the French site accurately predicted the designs of the Galaxy S6, S7, and Note 5, iPhone 6S and SE ahead of their launch. Now, it has pulled off another cat out of its hat by forecasting the schematics for the iPhone 7.
The website presented CAD drawings of the supposed design of the iPhone 7, which appears similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
According to the CAD drawings, the iPhone is likely to measure 67.12 mm wide and 138.3 mm tall compared to 67.1 mm width and 138.3 mm height of the iPhone 6S. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 will be 7.1 mm thick, 1 mm thicker compared to iPhone 6S. Aside from the dimensions, the overall appearance of the iPhone 6S is expected to be retained by iPhone 7, the website reported.
This will certainly come as a disappointment for Apple fans that were looking forward to a change in design of the iPhone 7.
However, there is some good news for iPhone fans too. Although the schematics seem to show the iPhone 7 may miss out on the dual camera, which may come later in a new 'iPhone 7 Pro' model, the handset will certainly get some optical improvement, Forbes reported. This is apparent from the augmented cutout space for the camera module, which is perceptibly larger compared to that on the iPhone 6S.
Apple has always been against increasing the megapixels of the cameras of its iPhones and considering the fact that other smartphone manufacturers are also returning to 12MP, it is unlikely that the iPhone 7 cameras will have a great megapixel. On the other hand, the additional space would allow for a module with superior individual pixels in addition to a faster aperture.
Moreover, the schematics do not display any antenna lines on the rear of the iPhone 7. While this may possibly be just an omission on a drawing mainly designed to suggest dimensions, it is said that Apple is working on getting rid of the unattractive bands and this keeps some hope alive.
